ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
by Elizabeth Lehmann
I feel extremely grateful to these gifted teachers, authors and colleagues who I’ve been fortunate enough to encounter through one medium or another, many of whom I’ve had the honor of learning from in person, and who’ve directly influenced this audio program: Angeles Arrien, Tara Brach, Doc Childre, Ann Weiser Cornell, Milton Erickson, Diana Fosha, Eugene Gendlin, Mary Hendricks Gendlin, Diane Poole Heller, Peter Levine, Kevin McEvenue, Belleruth Naparstek, Nancy J. Napier, Stephen Porges, Sandra Shapiro, David Stendl-Rast, Tami Simon, Addie van der Kooy, Myra Weiss and Jon Kabat-Zinn. You will undoubtedly recognize your imprint herein.
Thank you so very much to everyone I’ve encountered who has actively worked with this material and given me invaluable feedback, enabling me to refine it to the point of being most effective for the greatest number of people. This includes workshop participants, psychotherapy and coaching clients with whom I’ve had the privilege of working throughout the years, as well as volunteer test pilots for the audio program. One of the test pilots, Bruce Nayowith, went above and beyond. Not only did he complete the extensive anonymous survey, he also e-mailed me with additional extremely helpful suggestions, and did a back and forth process with me around them.
And a special thank you to the following people who have given me encouragement and support in varying ways and on so many different levels, some for many years: Ken Benau, Eleanor Buscher, Martine Byer, Diane Caron-Bourbonnais, Karin Dubowick, Deirdre Fay, Christel Kraft, Colette Linnihan, Kathy McGuire, Nancy J. Napier, Jo-Ann Salata, Susan Schulherr, Carolyn Tricomi and Libby Walker. Each of you have been there for me when I’ve needed "a true other" (Fosha), resourcing me exactly how I needed to be resourced at crucial times in my life.
In a category all their own are my husband Rick Savage and our son Ted. Without Rick this audio program literally would not have been made. From Ted, a truly awe-inspiring teenager who happens to have ADHD, I’ve experientially learned much about nervous system regulation and dysregulation, his own as well as mine. In many respects he has been and continues to be my greatest teacher. And with both Rick and Ted I’ve been blessed with experiencing the sweet nectar of love and secure connection, with lots of misattunement, rupture and repair in between. When I feel healthily connected to them, my nervous system naturally draws on this sustaining resource of connection and is better able to regulate itself.
And if I failed to mention anyone, I apologize. At this point in my life I’ve tremendously benefited from so many sources of knowledge and wisdom, it’s not surprising if I might have inadvertently overlooked someone.
To everyone who has knowingly and unknowingly contributed to this audio program, enriching my life, and through a ripple effect, now hopefully others: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
From the heart,
Elizabeth
